In February, I attended a Rural Professionals meeting in Palmerston North, run by Dairy NZ, and listened to many great speakers covering topics across the dairy industry.
One that stood out for me was the presentation by regional leader for the Lower North Island, Mark Lawrence, on what the Dairy NZ website has to offer farmers and the tools they can access to assist them in the day to day running of their farming operation.
Mark spoke about the Dairy NZ Econ Tracker tool that brings to the farmer up to date economic information relevant to the dairy sector right now. This is just one of 62 tools available offering support to farmers and their business.
The website covers information across a wide spectrum of the dairy industry including topics on animal health, feed, milking, employment, and business, which includes tips on budgeting and cash management.
Farmers can read up on what is happening with the current Research farms and regional Research projects and can download resources such as the ‘Inside Dairy’ magazine.
There are also 577 guides available with check lists and practical knowledge covering a wide range of on farm topics, whether it be to do with cows, pastures and crops, nutrition, climate, water, just to name a few.
